Solar Powered Renewable Energy – Solar Panels

Image : http://www.flickr.comHumans have harnessed solar energy for centuries. Our ancestors have made use of the sun for heat and light, drying clothes and some cultures even prayed to the Sun.
Nowadays the solar energy accounts for most of renewable energy generated on earth. Others forms are of course wind, wave and hydroelectricity to name but a few.
Heat Engines are used to convert solar energy to electricity; once the solar energy is converted its uses are limitless. Nowadays RV’s can be fitted with solar panels to generate the electricity used for the appliances, Backpacks can be fitted with portable solar panels so you can have electricity on the go, whether you use it for lighting, charging mobile phones or GPS devices while in the wilderness or camping with the family.
The possibilities for residential homes are endless, from providing hot water, heating pools to running appliances, using it to generate heat in winter and provide energy for cooling systems in summer. The idea of not paying power companies for non-renewable and pollution generating energy should be enough incentive to research this avenue further. An initial medium investment will pay for itself over a short period of time. Even those residential homes that obtain only forty to seventy percent of their power from solar power systems enjoy a huge savings over a period of time.
The need for people to generate their one electricity using solar energy is now more important than ever with ever increasing CO2 levels, global warming and the knowledge that we are all responsible for our planet’s well being, not only toward nature but also for generations to come. When you think of it, only a fraction of the sun’s energy are harnessed and used, imagine what we can do for our communities and future generations if we all started converting solar energy to household electricity with the use of residential solar panels. It’s a start, Rome was not built in a day but brick by brick, but this time let build it solar panel by solar panel…
